Background
Torn between becoming a civil engineer and a primary school teacher, I decided to take a year out. But I couldn’t do nothing and, during that time, I ventured into corporate banking.
Fast forward to today, and I’m fortunate to have over 25 years of experience in venture capital and private equity. My journey started at NatWest Development Capital, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of working at North West Equity Fund, Barclays Ventures, and, just before joining Mercia, as a partner at YFM Equity Partners.
In January 2019, I joined Mercia as Head of Portfolio and Platform, and in July 2020, I was delighted to be promoted to Managing Director of Mercia Investments. Along the way, I’ve also had the opportunity to sit on boards across a range of sectors, including software, support services, manufacturing and communications.
For many years now I have specialised in portfolio management—handling everything from trade sales to secondary buyouts and fundraising. What excites me most about my role is the incredible variety of working with so many different portfolio companies.
