As an entrepreneur turned VC investor, I have the great pleasure in leading our Mercia Ventures team and working with ambitious founders every day. I have a fundamental belief that business success is about its people and the culture that is set from the top is vital to deliver success for all concerned.
Background
Growing up I was always active in sports and did my first triathlon when I was 14. Whilst I still occasionally do crazy endurance events, it has instilled a work ethic and drive that I apply in everything I do.
I developed my early career in sales roles for big pharma and medical device companies before founding Surgi C, a specialist spinal implant company which I successfully exited in 2010. I have been an active angel investor including co-founding Diagnostic World, a diagnostic provider to the NHS which successfully exited in 2022.
I often tell founders I made every mistake possible over the years when running my companies so hopefully I can help others avoid some. I pride myself on being generous with my time and will always try to offer advice or coaching for any of our team and portfolio founders and management teams.
I was invited to join Mercia in 2014 and after investing in health and life science companies I now oversee all investment activity across all sectors.
I now try and write my thoughts every two weeks in my leadership newsletter and spend my time keeping fit for another endurance challenge, learning new things and watching my team Aston Villa.
I have a fundamental belief that business success is about its people and the culture that is set from the top is vital to deliver success for all concerned.
